About me
Hi! I'm Justine, 33, based in Amsterdam, a freelance web developer from France with a lifelong passion for crafting.
Previously dressmaker, I transitioned from sewing clothes to coding websites! With a blend of creativity and newly acquired programming skills, I want to help bring your ideas to life.
In 2020, I decided to dive into web development, and completed a 6-month intensive course at OpenClassrooms, earning the Web Developer certificate (equivalent to Associate degree).
Whether it's building responsive websites from the ground up, optimizing a site's performance and SEO, or renewing the entire design, I make it my goal to use everything I've learned in the past three years to ensure a seamless user experience and meet everyone's expectations.
Education
I started the Web Developer course at OpenClassrooms with very little knowledge about programming, but a growing interest. The course was split into 7 projects, each one of them challenging me to learn something new and to discover a different aspect of being a web developer, with various challenges and missions to complete, with products to deliver, just like it would be in a professional environment.
There, I started learning the basics of HTML and CSS, as well as the importance of responsive design and mobile-first in any web application.
I studied SEO and how to make a website more visible on the web by identifying the good practices to apply to a specific case, and bad practices to avoid and fix.
I learned about accessibility optimization, in the perspective to make the web a better place for people with disabilities. This starts with making a website more readable, and keyboard navigation easier, and optimizing the content to be accessible by screen readers, from picture descriptions to menus that are easy to access and to use.
Then I got into JavaScript, from developing a simple frontend application, to creating the backend for a given website, with a secured API and a database, with Node.js and Express. The last project of the course was fullstack, and I could experience with the tools of my choice, which were sqlite3 and Sequelize for the backend, and Vue.js for the frontend, coupled with TailwindCSS for the styling, as I grew a liking for both of them, and continue to use them today.
